Very few can transition from being a Turntablist DJ to BBC radio presenter to producer with ease. Kayper is an anomaly within today's DJ culture. With a career spanning over 2 decades, Kayper is proof that longevity is achieved from processing pure talent from the outset.
Her turntable skills and stand out live shows have earned her residencies and headlines slots at some of the world's most renowned and exclusive nightclubs, including Ministry of Sound (London), Marquee (New York) and Hakkasan (Las Vegas).
Alongside the club shows, she has also played internationally at festivals from Neon Carnival Coachella, Lollapalooza, SXSW, Glastonbury and Amsterdam Dance Event.
Not bad for someone who did not plan on having a career in DJing. From a very early age, Kayper had her sights set on producing music. After graduating from University with a BSc degree in Music Technology, she directed her focus more twords production.
Kayper made her debut as a producer when she collaborated with the electronic collective Engine Earz on the track "Gimme Some" which was co-signed by Diplo and released on his label Mad Decent in 2011.
Her first solo single 'Magic Faces' gained the attention of BBC 6 music, 1Xtra and key blogs such as Hypertrak and Hunger Magazine who described the track as having "80's & 90's R&B influences over a housey, 2-step vibe."
Her follow up single, 'Out My Mind', has surpassed 2 million streams on Spotify, garnered substantial airplay on BBC Radio 1 and received a glowing review from Pitchfork. Kayper's success continued with her next single 'Someone', which was released June of 2014 on Spinnin' Records.
In 2015, Kayper began working with the electronic and house label Eton Messy. With her first EP release on the label she collaborated with talented artists such as Jonny Winston - who features on Kayper's "What You Say", as well as Janai who guest vocals on "Terminal". Both tracks received heavy acclaim from publications such as Clash who branded "What You Say" as "an ultra-stylish piece of summertime house" as well as Hell Hound Music who commented on Kayper's "melodic and sophisticated style that only a well-seasoned producer can accomplish."
